The Arthritis & Joint Replacement Center of Reading is also actively involved in hip and knee replacement research.
Christi Sychterz Terefenko brings a dimension of total joint replacement research to AJRC. Christi has worked in the field of orthopaedic research for the past 15 years, specializing in the study of joint replacement implants and their outcomes. Christi’s Master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering from The Johns Hopkins University has lent itself well to investigating topics such as the mechanisms of implant failure, the wear of polyethylene in total hip replacements, bone remodeling around cementless implants, and bone ingrowth into porous coated prostheses. Her involvement in hip and knee replacement research has lead to numerous publications in medical peer-reviewed journals and text books.
Currently, Christi works with Dr. Kevin Terefenko on assessing the clinical outcomes of his patients. She also consults for orthopaedic surgeons and implant device companies around the country, providing technical research support including data analysis, statistics, outcomes assessment, and scientific writing.
